What to know when you visit Durango  

What’s open?

All retail stores are currently open. We suggest you contact the store directly for current hours. Visit our Shopping Directory for a full list of the shopping opportunities available in the district.

All restaurants can open at 50% capacity for indoor dining as of February 8. Last call is now midnight. Bars may be open as well, as long as they have food available and are operating like a restaurant with reservations, tables, etc. Additionally, La Plata County has been granted approval from the Colorado Department of Public Health to operate the Five Star Certification  Program. Business who have passed a rigorous certification process proving they have implemented enhanced public safety protocols will be allowed to have greater capacity for indoor dining. What to Expect When Visiting a 5 Star Program Certified Restaurant

There will be different procedures and protocols that guests will experience when visiting a 5 Star Program certified restaurant. These include:

Please be aware that some restaurants are only offering takeout, curbside, delivery, or outdoor open seating. Please see our support local page for a list of what is open. The City of Durango has offered free curbside pick-up parking spaces for many of these restaurants to make it easier for you to pick up your food. Please be aware that these spots are only for pick up and not for regular daytime parking.


Visit Responsibly

Our businesses are taking extra steps with safety precautions and sanitation standards. Please observe capacity guidelines at each individual establishment. Facial coverings are required while visiting retailers. When dining at our local restaurants you will need to wear your mask to enter, at any time you are not seated at a table, and while seated but not actively eating or drinking. Keep your mask on when ordering please. We appreciate your cooperation in following all guidelines that are set by our local health department and the State of Colorado. By following these guidelines our businesses can continue to stay open. We love our visitors! Show your love for Durango by keeping us safe.

What to expect

All visitors are required to wear face coverings while in public. This includes when walking around Downtown, shopping at a store, while waiting to be seated at a restaurant, and when not actively eating or drinking. Please remember to bring your face coverings when you visit. There are free face masks available at the Durango Welcome Center, which is open 7 days a week in Downtown Durango.

We ask that visitors help us keep our stores open by following these principles. You can play a key part in helping our community stay safe and healthy and continue to thrive.


Wear your mask Masks must be worn when in public places.


Keep your distance Maintain physical distance of at least 6 feet. This is about the distance of a ski length.


Wash Hands often Practice clean habits by washing hands frequently for at least 30 seconds. Use hand sanitizer when hand washing is not available.
