Colorado High School Cycling League State Championships
October 18-20, 2019 at the Durango Mesa Park
Durango will host the upcoming Colorado High School Cycling League State Championship race on October 18-20, 2019. The event will attract nearly 1,000 high school mountain bikers to race in town. The Colorado High School Cycling League (Colorado League) is a regional affiliate of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). There has been a tremendous increase in participation in events across the state and nation. We expect a total of 2,000 visitors from this race with riders, family members, staff and coaches.
Trails 2000, a local non-profit that has been in Durango for almost 30 years, was responsible for building the 7-mile NICA course to support the race. Trails 2000 began construction on the course, located on Durango Mesa, in fall of 2017 and built over 3.5 miles of new singletrack and added about a mile of a new double track connector. The trails are compliant with NICA trail guidelines and meet specific criteria for hosting the state championships.
