About El Rancho

The El Rancho Tavern is a historical staple in Durango. In 1915 the Colorado native Jack Dempsey “The Manassa Mauler” knocked out Andy Maller in 10 rounds at our location and won $50. Later in 1919 Dempsey became the World Heavy Weight Champion.

The El Rancho Tavern attracts loyal local patrons and visitors alike, all who come to play billiards, foosball, watch live music and drink aggressively. With a dive bar attitude, El Rancho is a must see when visiting Durango.
