Parking and Street Closure Information, and FREE Transportation, for the Snowdown Light Parade
Friday February 1
Time - parade starts at 6 pm, ends by 7 pm
Closure info:
- Parade staging area – 500 block of Main, 5th Street from Main to Park Elementary – 1:30 to 9 pm
- Parade route – Main from College to 14th Street, to Narrow Gauge on west and alley on east – 2:30 to 10 pm (Narrow Gauge open to parking and thru traffic, except 1100 block, see below; alley open to thru traffic, except 700 block, also see below)
- Other – all 2:30 to 10 pm
- East and West 100 blocks of College
- East 100 block of 13th
- 1100 block of Narrow Gauge (parking closed only, thru traffic allowed)
- Thru traffic only on College (no turns onto Main allowed) until 5:30 pm. At 5:30, traffic detoured onto Narrow Gauge and E. 2nd Ave.
- City barricade trailers and street sweepers will take all parking on 500 block of E. 2nd Ave. starting at 1:30 pm. Durango Police/La Plata County Mounted Patrol at E. 2nd and College and E. 2nd and 5th to allow LIMITED traffic north and south through this block.
- Alley between Main and E. 2nd, and College and 5th, open to through traffic until 5:15 pm. Exit onto 5th monitored by Durango Police/La Plata County Mounted Patrol.
- Alley between Main and E. 2nd, and 7th and College, CLOSED at 2:30 pm for bed races.
- Bed Races – 4 to 5:30 pm, 700 block of Main and E. 100 block of 7th Street
- Pedestrian crossings of Main at 8th and 11th
- Emergency access points – 5th and Main, College and Main, 9th and Main, 12th and Main, 14th and Main
FREE Transportation
- Main Ave Trolley FREE starting at 3 pm. Arrives every 20 minutes. Last Trolley departs Transit Center at 8:40 pm
- Special FREE shuttle from Fairgrounds to Transit Center. Starts at 5 pm at Fairgrounds, last shuttle departs Transit Center at 8 pm. At Fairgrounds every 15 minutes.
Parking options
- Do NOT park at Town Plaza, Albertsons, Doubletree - parking for customers only
- DO park in these locations:
- City lots after 5 pm (Transit Center and 3 lots on E. 2nd Ave)
- Metered parking outside of closure area noted above, must pay meter until 6 pm
- If parking in neighborhoods adjacent to Downtown, do not block driveways
- Look for NO PARKING signs on meters Downtown
- If parked in any Downtown private lot within closure areas, after 3 pm no exit will be allowed
