Durango's Farmer's Market
Durango Farmers Market opened in May and will be held every Saturday morning until the last Saturday in October! The market is located in the parking lot of TBK Bank at 259 W. 9th street, across from the City Transit Center from 8am to noon (and 9am to noon in October).
As an essential part of our local food chain, the market opened with agricultural and food vendors only. With wide rows and in the open air, we transformed into a local, accessible grocery store and put the community gathering aspects on hold. As we all gain experience with navigating our new normal, the Market is slowly expanding the types of vendors we are hosting. Local artisans and some service vendors will be attending in June and community informational booths that are so vital in our non-profit oriented community will slowly be added as well.
Current market adaptations include: limited entrance/exit points (all on the south end of our market), hand washing/sanitizing stations at each entrance/exit point, no live music, adhering to State and local face covering and distancing guidelines, no self-serve purchases (let your vendor gather your items), no sampling, requesting customers not to consume food or linger in the market area. We have also posted all vendor contact information on our web site for ease of communication and possible pre-order and pre-pay options vendors may offer.
The market requires that all agricultural and artisan vendors grow or produce their goods themselves, and from our local region which includes the five counties of La Plata, Montezuma, Archuleta, San Juan Colorado, and San Juan New Mexico. This ensures that all foods are fresh and local. Our value-added and ready-to-eat vendors must use as many local ingredients as possible and be locally owned. The high value for local production ensures all dollars spent at the market support fellow community members and support the local economy. In a season where most community events and gatherings have been canceled, the market is able to still offer a local venue for our local products and producers! Please come join the market in the open air and Colorado sunshine!
Come shop for your local food in our open air, well-spaced market booths! For more information visit their website at http://durangofarmersmarket.com/
