Don’t Miss the Animas Valley Balloon Rally!
The Animas Valley Balloon Rally is back with events taking place Friday October 20 and Saturday October 21. All events are free to the public and offer a great opportunity to get up close to the beautiful balloons.
Its back, the Downtown Balloon Blow will take place on Friday, October 20 on the 500 block of Main. The event will once again feature four balloons that will be tethered and lit up on display. One of the featured balloons will be “Humpty Dumpty” a favorite among all the kids. There will also be several “candlesticks,” which are the basket and burner without the balloon. Pilots will let you enter the basket and pull the burner! Attendees will have a chance to be up close to these spectacular balloons and to talk to the pilots. This is a fun event for the whole family and an experience the kiddos will remember forever. Don’t forget to bring your camera and take lots of pictures of the event. There will be a portable t-shirt printer that will be able to take your photos and turn them into t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts and more!
We suggest you arrive around 6:30 pm. All of the city lots offer FREE parking after 5 pm. These include three lots on E. 2nd Avenue, and the Transit Center. There are several great restaurants close to the balloon glow where you can grab a bite to eat right before or after the glow. Check out T’s Smokehouse, East by Southwest, Gazpacho’s New Mexican Restaurant, Cuckoos, The Palace, Sizzling Siam, or Nini’s Taqueria. The glow will start at approximately 7pm. This event is weather permitting, so cross your fingers that the Colorado weather cooperates that night. Bathrooms are available in the Train Depot. Plan to arrive around 6:30 pm for this event so that you can park and watch the balloons stand. There will be eight to ten balloons that will be tethered and lit up on display. The Circus Big Top Balloon, came all the way from Denver and will be one of the feature balloons at the event. Visitors will have a great opportunity to get up close to the balloons and talk to the pilots, so don’t forget your camera! The balloons will stand up at approximately 7:30 pm, weather permitting. Guests will have the opportunity to ride a large balloon with a tether that go up approximately 30 feet. Rides will just be $10 per person. The portable t-shirt factory will be available to take your great photos and put them on t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts and more. Click Here for more information.
