For 28 years the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering has been a featured event of the fall season in downtown Durango.  Held September 30th to October 2nd, 2016 with headquarters in the Historic Strater Hotel.  This Gathering features the finest cowboy poets, storytellers and musicians who come from a real working ranch background.  They tell stories and sing songs about the lifestyles of the West.  Most events are within walking distance from the Strater Hotel in downtown Durango.

Evening shows are ticketed and all the Saturday Daytime Sessions are FREE.  Other special events during the weekend include a Cowboy Poet Train on the DSNGRR, a Cowboy Poet Trailride at Rapp Corral, a special chuckwagon breakfast fundraiser for the Animas Museum, a Cowboy Comedy Revue, and many special Gallery openings of Western Art. The big Cowboy Parade on Main Ave. is Saturday morning and is entirely "motorless".  It features horse drawn wagons, buggys, riders, and walkers of all types.

This is a family-friendly event which will make you laugh and make you cry.  Stories of the real West told by people who have lived the life.  Click here for a complete schedule and tickets.  or visit our Facebook page
