Parking Tips and Tricks
Parking During the Work Week:
Park off Main Avenue, and look on Narrow Gauge Avenue and E. 2nd Avenue first. The 700 block of E. 2nd Avenue and the 1100 block of E. 2nd Avenue have the most available spaces.
Put in extra time on your meter to avoid a ticket, if you are not sure how long you will be. 25 cents might save you from a $25 ticket!
Park at 10 hour meters for all day parking, these are found on the edges of Downtown. Look for the bands on the meter posts to determine the max amount of time you can put on a meter.
Get a parking card to avoid the hassle of having change available. Cards are available at the Transit Center and can be pre-loaded with any amount of money.
Free meter parking on these holidays:
New Year's Day, MLK Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
For permit parking, the Transit Center lot ALWAYS has available spaces for permit parking. The three lots lots on E. 2nd Ave fill up quickly each morning, but you usually can find a spot until 9 am
Purchase a permit for 3 months or more and get a 15% discount! Park for less than $1 a day!
Weekend and Evening Parking:
Transit Center ALWAYS has available spaces on weeknights after 5 pm and all day on weekends.
All meters are free after 6 pm, and all day on weekends.
Ride your bike, walk the River Trail, or take the bus to Downtown and avoid parking all together.
