Shop Local Campaign

BID’s Shop Local campaign includes three components: Sidewalk Sale promotions, local gift guide and a shop local display at the Durango Welcome Center. We have include information about each component below and have provided information on how you can participate. This campaign is part of BID’s Marketing efforts for the year and is a free service for any business in the district. Sidewalk Sales

BID will once again offer marketing and promotion around 4 sidewalk sale weekends in 2018.  The proposed Sidewalk Sale Dates for 2018 are listed below.  BID will put in a request to the City of Durango for sidewalk vending dates for 2018 in November 2017.  Once the dates will be finalized we will open up the registration process.   Marketing for these weekends will include: Social Media posts, radio Ads, and a flyer at the welcome center and more. Registration will begin in January 2018.

Local Gift Guide

Throughout the year we will produce a local gift guide for various holidays. We will feature unique local items on a feature page on our website with photographs and a description of the item. Shop Local Display at the Durango Welcome Center Window

BID will promote five shop local campaigns with a display in the center window at the Durango Welcome Center (DWC).  For each display we are looking for four merchants to display items in the window to make a unique display to promote local shopping in Downtown Durango. Participating merchants will receive a sign with their business name and address by their merchandise. The DWC receives over 135,000 guests annually (and many more walk by this window) making this a terrific opportunity to capture the attention of many guests that are visiting the area as well as locals. If you are interested in participating please review the application. From the applications we receive for each display, BID staff will choose a variety of business that will best fit the theme of the display. A maximum of four merchants will be chosen for each display.

We added an additional Shop local display for Christmas from December 11- 19. Deadline to apply for a spot is November 10.
